Project Brief	The project activity “Ecoparque Barra Mansa Landfill Gas to Energy Project” encompasses collection and destruction/utilization of landfill gas (LFG) at the landfill named Ecoparque Barra Mansa, which is owned and operated by the solid waste management company Orizon Valorização de Resíduos S.A. The main objective of the project activity is to avoid greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions of methane (CH₄) into the atmosphere through efficient collection and destruction of LFG by flaring and also through its utilization for electricity generation, thus promoting GHG emission reductions. Moreover, since share of collected LFG will be utilized as fuel for electricity generation in an electricity generation facility with an initial nameplate power generation capacity of 2.0 MW, the project activity will also incur in displacement of electricity generated from fossil fuel sources. The Ecoparque Barra Mansa landfill is located in Rio de Janeiro state, in the municipality of Barra Mansa.
