Project Brief

The proposed project activity consists in the implementation and operation of four new wind electricity generation facilities, Gameleira, Costa das Dunas, Farol de Touros and Figueira Branca, located in the municipality of Touros, in the Rio Grande do Norte state, Brazil. The project activity will employ 23 horizontal-axis aerogenerators (model: Gamesa G132-3.55MW, hh120m), each with 3.55 MW (total nominal capacity: 81.65 MW). The windfarm Gameleira will use 5 (five) aerogenerators, the windfarm Costa das Dunas will use 8 (eight) aerogenerators, the windfarm Farol de Touros will use 7 (seven) aerogenerators and the windfarm Figueira Branca will use 3 (three) aerogenerators. The physical implementation of the project activity started on 25/06/2021.

In the baseline, electricity delivered to the grid by the project activity would have been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants and by the addition of new generation sources, as reflected in the combined margin (CM) calculations. Hence, the project activity will promote GHG emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation that would otherwise occur.
