Project Brief

The proposed project activity consists in the implementation and operation of a new solar photovoltaic electricity generation facility named Ciranda II.
Ciranda II Photovoltaic Plant, is composed of 3 (three) Photovoltaic Plants, with 32 MW of installed power each, totaling 96 MW of total power in the complex. The areas are in the rural area of the municipality.
The Ciranda II solar complex is located in the municipality of São José do Belmonte, in the Sertão Pernambucano region. The distance from Recife, capital of the state of Pernambuco, to the complex is approximately 455 km.
The project activity will deliver approximately 286,800 MWh/year of renewable electricity to the National Interconnected System (Sistema Interligado Nacional - SIN). In the baseline scenario, electricity delivered to the grid by the project activity would have been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants and by the addition of new generation sources, as reflected in the combined margin (CM) calculations. Hence, the project activity will promote GHG emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation that would otherwise occur.
