Project Brief

Sitara Solar Project is a greenfield 100 MWac Solar power plant being implemented in Johdpur, Rajasthan of India by Sitara Solar Energy Private Limited ("SSEPL"). The electricity generated by the project "100 MWac Sitara Solar PV Project" will thus replace the equivalent amount of electricity generated by the operatoin of existing grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel-based power plants). The estimated annual average electricity generation by the project activity is 221,638 MWh and the estimated annual average GHG emission reductions by the project activity is 206,234 tCO2e.

The project activity has created job opportunities for the local population on a temporary and permanent basis thus improving local economic activity and improving local living standards. The installation of the renewable energy project has also led to the development of basic infrastructure like roads, communication with nearby cities, etc. As the project utilises renewable resources to produce energy, the project also contributes towards resource conservation and mitigating environmental degradation owning to its displacement of generation activities which utilise fossil fuels.
