Project Brief | “Renewable Solar Power Project in Sinanpaşa, Afyon” (hereafter referred to as the project) is located in Sinanpaşa district of Afyon Province in Western Türkiye. The project has been established and is being operated by Margün Enerji Ürt. San. Ve Tic. A.Ş. This project activity involves the installation and operation of 11 unlicensed solar power plants. The purpose of the project is to generate clean energy by harnessing the solar power and providing the energy to the Turkish national grid. By implementing the project, the dependency on fossil fuels to generate electricity is expected to reduce, which in turn reduces the sources of environmental pollution. The total installed capacity of all the 11 SPPs in this project bundle amounts to 10.78 MW (12.275 MWp), which were all commissioned on 14th December 2017. The electricity produced by project activity will result in emission reduction of 13,417 tCO2e per year and 134,170 tCO2e over the fixed crediting period of 10 years (14/12/2017 to 13/12/2027). |

Opinion | The GCC Project Verifier EPIC Sustainability Services Private Limited, certifies the following with respect to the GCC Project Activity 'Renewable Solar Power Project in Sinanpaşa, Afyon'. The Project Owner has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form (version 09, dated 10/01/2024) including the applicability of the approved methodology AMS-I.D. Grid-connected renewable electricity generation, version 18.0 and meets the methodology applicability conditions and is expected to achieve the forecasted real, measurable and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reductions estimates correctly and conservatively. The Project Activity is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated 13,417 tCO2e per year, as indicated in the PSF, which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable GCC rules, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3. The Project Activity is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental Standard (Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+)) and Social Safeguards Standard (Social No-net-harm Label (S+)) The Project Activity is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Silver SDG Label, complies with the Project Sustainable Standard, and contributes to achieving a total of 3 SDGs. The Project Activity complies with all the applicable requirements of the GCC Program and ICAO’s requirements on CORSIA Emissions Unit Eligibility Criteria and CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units, as per Clarification No 1., v1.3 paragraph 23-25, and the ACCs expected to be issued during the crediting period is likely to be CORSIA eligible and can be used by International Airlines for offsetting their emissions during all phases of CORSIA and therefore requests GCC Steering Committee to append CORSIA Certification label (C+) to this project. For carbon credits issued during 1st Jan 2016 to 31st Dec 2020, Host Country Attestation on Double Counting is not required for CORSIA labelled credits. The Host Country Attestation on Double Counting will be provided during the first or subsequent verification, when the issuance of carbon credit is considered beyond 1st Jan 2021. The Project Activity complies with all the applicable GCC rules and therefore recommends GCC Program to register the Project activity with above mentioned labels. |
