Project Brief | The project involves installation of Solar Photovoltaic (SPV) Panels on rooftops of various building premises of Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC) India by SAEL Limited (Previously, Sukhbir Agro Energy Ltd). NMRC is a Joint Venture Company of Government of India (GoI) and Government of Uttar Pradesh (GoUP) established for the purpose of planning, building and establishing of Mass transit and other urban transport and people mover systems of all types and disciplines. The NMRC has opened its corridor covering the length of 29.707KM between Noida & Greater Noida and operational since 26th January, 2019. The stretch consisting of 21 stations out of which 15 are in Noida and 6 in Greater Noida). NMRC has received “IGBC PLATINUM” rating for all 21 elevated stations of NMRC from IGBC Green Rating System. All the rooftop solar panel units involved in the project are implemented under RESCO model where SAEL acts as a RESCO (Renewable Energy Service Company). Being the RESCO, SAEL has developed, installed, financed, operates and owns the rooftop solar power units and supplies power generated from the project to NMRC on whose premises the rooftop SPV panels are set up. NMRC, being the building owners is the customer of the power generated from the rooftop solar panels who purchase the power from SAEL Limited under long term power purchase agreements signed for 25 years. The purchased power by the customers are either consumed/utilized by the customers for in the buildings premises or injected to the grid of the Distribution Utility under the mechanism of net metering. |

Additional Information | The project ERs values have been corrected. And the SDGs have re-evaluated and corrected. |
Opinion | The project activity titled “10 MW bundled rooftop solar power project by SAEL at various building premises of NMRC” is a roof-top solar power project, which results in reductions of CO2 equivalent emissions that are real, measurable and aimed at providing long-term benefits to the mitigation towards climate change. It is demonstrated that the project is not a likely baseline scenario and the emission reductions attributable to the project are, hence, additional to any that would occur in the absence of the project activity. The project correctly applies the approved baseline and monitoring AMS-I.F. version 3.0 and is assessed against latest valid PS, VS and Environment and Social Safeguards Standard, Project-Sustainability-Standard and/or other applicable GCC/CDM Decisions/Tools/Guidance/Forms. The expected emission reductions on an annual average by the project activity is 14,344 tCO2e/year and is likely to achieve the same over the 10 years crediting period with the start date from 10/10/2019. |
