Project Brief

The purpose of project activity is to generate and feed to the connected national electricity grid of India GHG free electricity by the installation of a 50 MWac solar power project. The project activity is located at Phorka village in Ellanabad tehsil of district Sirsa in the state of Haryana, in India.
The project boundary includes the project site where the plant has been installed, power evacuation infrastructure including the other power stations feeding to the connected electricity grid, energy metering points, switch yards and other civil constructs.
The baseline of the project activity is continued generation of electricity in the national grid of India. The electricity generation in India is highly carbon intensive. According to the latest data from Central Electricity Authority7 on carbon intensity of grid electricity, the combined margin emission factor of the grid electricity is 0.9305tCO2e/MWh and therefore electricity generation from solar power project as in the project activity results into emission reductions. It is estimated that the project activity will effect a cumulative GHG emission reduction of 921,999 tCO2e over 10 year period of project activity with an average of 92,199 tCO2e GHG emission reduction per year and average annual electricity delivered to the connected grid of 99,086 MWh.
The project has been commissioned on 30/11/2021 and is in operation.

VERIFICATION OUTCOME
Opinion

The project activity is about the installation and operation of a 50 MWac solar photovoltaic power plant in Sirsa district, Haryana, India. The project activity is a green field project and was already commissioned on 30/11/2021. The project aims to generate electricity from solar energy, which is a renewable source of energy and thus leads to the generation of clean energy. The electricity generated from the project is being supplied to the Indian National Grid and thereby displacing the electricity which could have been generated in the grid from carbon-intensive fossil-fuel-based power plants.

The project activity expects to deliver around an average of 99,086 MWh of electricity annually to the national electricity grid. It is located in Phorkha village in Ellenabad tehsil of Sirsa district of Haryana State in India. The project activity has commissioned on 30/11/2021 and shall generate approximately 92,199 tCO2e per year as an average during the crediting period of 10 years.
