Project Brief | Beypi Biomass Energy Power Plant (“Beypi BEPP”) is located in the village of Gölbaşı, Yeniçağa District, the province of Bolu. It has an installed capacity of 2.381 MWm/ 2.300 MWe. The Project is a greenfield project activity and prior to implementation of the Project the biomass were left to decay under anaerobic conditions. The Project involves the construction of a conventional power plant, fired with biomass residues (poultry manure) sourced from Gölbaşı Egg production coops which is also owned by the Project Owner. The project activity will generate greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reductions by avoiding CO2 emissions from electricity generation by fossil fuel power plants connected to Turkish National Power Grid. By utilizing renewable sources to produce electricity, the Project helps reduce GHG emissions compared to the business as-usual scenario because the Turkish grid mainly consists of fossil-fired fired plants. The average annual generated energy is expected to be 16,1000 MWh/y; thereby delivering a reduction in emissions of 25,766 tCO2e per annum and 257,664 tons of CO2 for the whole 10-year crediting period. In addition, the project is expected to contribute 5 SDGs which are SDG 7, 8, 9 ,12 and 13.
