Project Brief

The Kıyıköy WPP Capacity Addition Project was built and developed by Alenka Enerji Üretim ve Yatırım A.Ş. The project activity is in the Vize district of Turkey’s northwestern Kırklareli province. The proposed project involves the installation of 20 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW, making the total installed capacity addition to 72 MW. The project owner built 20 more turbines in 2020 and increased the 28 MW capacity of the existing Kıyıköy WPP to 100 MWm/99.45 MWe with its additional capacity. Average energy generation per year is estimated to be 229,400 MWh. Consequently, the annual emission reductions are estimated to be 148,697 t CO2e per the applied methodology. The project activity exports the generated electricity to the Turkish national grid with generation from wind power, thereby contributing to the Host Country’s electricity demand, energy diversification, and renewable energy development. The project activity contributes to 4 sustainable development goals (SDGs).
