Project Brief

De Solar 7 Biogas power plant  is a biogas to-energy project that will generate renewable energy by capturing biogas from animal manure -via anaerobic digestion- and utilizing it to produce thermal and electric energy through biogas systems. The project is being implemented by DE SOLAR 7 ENERJI ÜRETIM LIMITED SIRKETI, as the Project Owner, Sincan district, Ankara province, in Turkey. From a socio-economic perspective, agricultural activities and animal husbandry have historically been primary household income sources for those living in Sincan. The common practice for the cattle farm owners to manage the manure generated at their farms is to have uncovered anaerobic lagoons/ponds. The project, whose primary feedstock will be cattle manure generated at farms in Sincan, provides an environmentally friendly solution to this manure management problem. While providing sustainable development benefits to the host communities and the host country, the proposed project activity will reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions mainly by avoiding greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and replacing the fossil fuel-dependent electricity. According to Electricity Generation License, the biogas generator system has the maximum operational capacity 3.201 MWe. The annual feed-in electricity is estimated to be 22,407,000 kWh. While heat generated at the plant is used at the facility to warm the digesters, the electricity generated is directly fed to the national grid.. The expected average annual emission reductions are 401,922 tCO2eq/y. Accordingly, the project is expected to generate 4,019,217 tCO2eq emissions reduction throughout its crediting period.
