Project Brief

Artvin Hydroelectic Power Plant has been developed by Doğuş Enerji Üretim ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi. The aim of the project is to produce electrical energy and supply it to the Turkish national grid thereby avoiding generation of equivalent quantum of electricity in fossil fuel power plants which would have supplied electricity to the grid in absence of the project activity. There are no purposes such as irrigation and flood control. It provides cheaper energy for industrialists and therefore, it gains advantage in the competitive environment.

The project includes installed generation capacity of 340.00 MWm/ 332.18 MWe with expected annual electricity generation of about 1,026 GWh (according to the generation license). As per the license issued by Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA) all legal rights of the project belongs to Doğuş Enerji Üretim ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi.

Since the use of fossil fuels is avoided, greenhouse gas emission reductions can be achieved. The average annual generated electricity is expected to be 1,026 GWh according to the generation license and the emission reduction is estimated around 585,595 tCO2e annually. For the entire crediting period, 5,855,953 tonnes of CO2 are expected to be reduced.

Additional Information

Estimated annual emission reduction for the project activity are 585,595 TCO2
