Project Brief

Panchengling CMM Power Generation Project (hereafter referred to as “the project”) is a CMM power project with total installed capacity of 19.5MW. The project is invested and operated by Zuoquan Dubao Power Development Co., Ltd. The project locates in Qilihe Village, Liaoyang Town, Zuoquan County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province, People’s Republic of China. The purpose of the project is to utilize the CMM from the Panchengling coal mine to generate and supply electricity to North China Power Grid (NCPG).Prior to the implementation of the project, the coal mine methane (CMM) gas extracted due to safety reasons from the Panchengling coal mine would be vented into the atmosphere. The project activity will utilize low-concentration CMM with an average concentration of 20% for power generation. Annually it will destroy 37,656,000 m3 of pure methane and generate 133,100 MWh of net electricity per year. The waste heat in the tail gas will be recovered by waste heat exchangers to produced hot water will be firstly satisfy the in-house use of the project activity and the surplus will be supplied to the coal mine for free, however for simplicity, such emission reduction from recovered waste heat are not claimed .Thus the project reduces green house gas such as CH4 and CO2.The project is expected to achieve a green-house gas emission reduction of 648,106 tCO2e annually. The total emission reductions during the fixed 10-year crediting period will be 6,481,060 tCO2e.
