AKÇA WPP has been developed by Menderes Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi which was referred to earlier as, TAN Elektrik Üretim A.Ş.(from 10/01/2012 to 07/04/2021).The project aims to contribute to reducing national energy deficit and development of local industries as it provides cheaper energy to the grid and gains advantage in a competitive environment.

Menderes Tekstil Sanayi ve Ticaret Anonim Şirketi installed 5 x 4.5 MWm (4.0 MWe) wind turbines in Aliaga and Bergama district in İzmir Province, Turkiye, with the purpose of contributing to the national economy the meeting the increased electricity demand.

Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier EPIC Sustainability Services Private Li mited, certifies the following with respect to the GCC Project Activity AKÇA WPP.

The Project Owner has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form (version 11, dated 14/08/2023) including the applicability of the approved methodology ACM0002: Grid-connected electricity generation from renewable Sources --- version 21.0 and meets the methodology applicability conditions and is expected to achieve the forecasted real and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reductions estimates correctly and conservatively.

The Project Activity is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated 36,816 tCO2e annually over the period of 10 years, as indicated in the PSF, which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable GCC rules, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3.

The Project Activity is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and is likely to achieve the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and Social No-net-harm Label (S+).

The Project Activity is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), complies with the Project Sustainability Standard, and contributes to achieving a total of [04] SDGs, with the Gold SDG certification label (SDG+).

The Project Activity complies with all the applicable GCC rules and therefore recommends GCC Program to register the Project activity with above mentioned labels.
