Project Brief

Sagar Nutriments Private Limited undertaken a project activity, which entails generation of renewable energy from the combustion of renewable fuels (biomass) for captive consumption. The project activity is set up in Tamot, Tehsil – Goharganj, Obedulaganj to Jabalpur Road (NH 12) in Raisen district. The technology employed is biomass-based cogeneration plant, generating steam and electricity, thus avoiding GHG emissions from carbon intensive fuel (coal) combustion for the same.
The project activity involves the installation of a biomass - based boiler with an installed capacity of 18TPH and a turbine generator of installed capacity of 1.99MW. The main fuel (biomass) used is rice husk. In the absence of this project activity, equivalent amount of energy and electricity would have been generated from coal-based boiler which would spew the comparable amount of GHG into the atmosphere. Hence, the implementation of this project activity leads to reduction in GHG emissions associated with the coal-based steam and electricity generation.

Additional Information

The annual emission calculation for this project activity is 49,116 TCO2e.
