Project Brief

The purpose of project activity is to generate and feed GHG free electricity by the installation of solar power plant having a capacity of 9 MWac to the connected national electricity grid of India. The proposed solar power project is located at Gourgaon, Osmanabad in the state of Maharashtra, India.

The project boundary includes the project site where the plant has been installed, power evacuation infrastructure including the other power stations feeding to the connected electricity grid, energy metering points and other civil constructs.

The baseline of the project activity is continued generation of electricity in the national grid of India.  The electricity generation in India is highly carbon intensive. According to the latest data from Central Electricity Authority on carbon intensity of grid electricity, the combined margin emission factor of the grid electricity is 0.9305tCO2e/MWh and therefore electricity generation from solar power project as in the project activity results into emission reductions. It is estimated that the project activity will effect a cumulative GHG emission reduction of 198,425 tCO2e over 10 year period of project activity with an average of 19,842 tCO2e reduction per year and annual average of 21,324 MWh electricity generation per year.

VERIFICATION OUTCOME
Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, KBS Certification Services Pvt. Ltd., has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – ‘AMPSOLAR SYSTEMS PRIVATE LIMITED’:

(a)   has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form (version 1.2, dated 14/06/2023 including the applicability of the approved methodology AMS-I.D. Grid connected renewable electricity generation --- Version 18.0 and meets the methodology applicability conditions, is additional and is expected to achieve the forecasted real and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reduction estimates correctly and conservatively;

(b)   is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated 17,491 tCO2eq annual average, as indicated in the PSF, which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable requirement of the GCC Program and ICAO’s requirements on CORSIA Emissions Unit Eligibility Criteria and CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units, as per Clarification No 1., v1.2 paragraph 21-23, and the ACCs expected to be issued during the crediting period is likely to be CORSIA eligible and can be used by International Airlines for offsetting their emissions during all phases of CORSIA, therefore requests GCC Steering Committee to append CORSIA Certification label (C+) to this project, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3 /5/, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity;

(c)    is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+); and

(d)   is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), comply with the Project Sustainability Standard, and contribute to achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the Silver SDG certification label (SDG+).

SDG Certification labels: Bronze (level 1): contributes to 2 out of 17 SDGs; Silver (level 2): contributes to 3 out of 17 SDGs; Gold (level 3): contributes to 4 out of 17 SDGs; Platinum (level 4): contributes to 5 out of 17 SDGs; and Diamond (level 5): contributes to more than 5 SDGs.
