Project Brief

The project activity consists of setting up of Wind Turbine Generator (WTGs) of a total capacity of 10 MW in the state of Tamil Nadu. The project activity involves the bundling of 5 Wind Turbine Generator (WTGs) of rated capacity 2000 kW each. All the WTGs are manufactured by M/s. Siemens Gamesa Renewable Power Private Limited. The project activity generates power by using the kinetic energy of wind, thus resulting in zero emissions during electricity production.

The generated electricity will be supplied to Indian grid and a majority is used for group captive consumption by wheeling through the grid. Project Owners in the bundle have signed a wheeling agreement with the TANGEDCO under group captive scheme to wheeling the generated energy from the project activity.

Additional Information

The project will replace anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) estimated to be approximately 20,042 tCO2e per year (Annual Average Over the crediting period ) , thereon displacing estimated annual average of 21,539 MWh/year amount of electricity from the generation-mix of power plants connected to the Indian grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel-based power plant. Project activity will mitigate the total GHG emission reductions of 200,423 tCO2e over the total crediting period.
