Project Brief

The project's objective is to generate electricity by harnessing wind energy through Wind Turbine Generators (WTGs) and supply this electricity to the Indian national grid via local substations.

The project involves the installation of a wind power generation facility in Charkha village, District Amreli, Gujarat, with a total installed capacity of 70.2 MW. WTGs are used to convert wind energy into electrical power.

It is yet to be operational, with all necessary statutory and regulatory approvals obtained to connect the generated power to the grid. The project is expected to generate an average of 228,762 MWh of electricity per year over a 10-year period, resulting in an average annual reduction of 197,009 tCO2e in greenhouse gas emissions.

Additionally, the project is aligning with following UN-SDGs:

SDG-7: The project will generate clean energy, replacing emission-intensive fossil fuels and increasing the share of clean energy in the global energy mix by 2030

SDG-8: The project creates both direct and indirect employment opportunities during construction and operation.

SDG-13: By producing clean energy and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, the project aids in mitigating global warming and addressing climate change

Opinion

TEQ Green Power XII Private Limited has appointed Project Verifier Ecolance Private Limited, to perform an independent project verification of the project “Wind Power Project by TEQ Green Power”, India. The project verification was conducted in accordance with the rules and requirements set forth by the GCC for the project activity.

The proposed project is a wind power initiative that results in real, measurable, and long-term reductions in CO2e emissions, contributing significantly to climate change mitigation. It has been demonstrated that the project is not part of a likely baseline scenario, and the emission reductions attributed to the project are therefore additional to any that would occur in the absence of the project activity. The project correctly applies the approved baseline and monitoring methodology ACM0002 for grid-connected electricity generation from renewable sources, Version 22.0 /2/.

The project has been assessed against the latest valid standards, including the Project Standard /3-a/, Verification Standard /3-b/, Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard /22/, Project Sustainability Standard /3-c/, and any other relevant GCC/CDM Decisions, Tools, Guidance, and Forms.

EPL communicated the outcome of the project verification to the project owners through both the draft and final project verification reports. The final verification report includes comprehensive information regarding the fulfilment of all applicable verification requirements. EPL followed a structured verification process and applied a recognized methodology, utilizing a competent verification team. The process included the following key steps:

·       Conducting a desk review of all documents and evidence submitted by the project owner in line with the applicable GCC rules and guidelines.

·       Performing a site visit and engaging in interviews or discussions with the project owner’s representatives.

·       Identifying audit findings, including any clarifications or non-conformities, and ensuring their resolution as appropriate.

·       Developing a draft verification opinion based on the audit findings and conclusions.

·       Subjecting the draft verification opinion and supporting documents to an independent technical review by a qualified technical review team.

·       Finalizing the verification opinion as presented in this report.

The GCC Project Verifier, EcoLance Private Ltd (EPL), hereby verifies and certifies that the GCC Project Activity titled “Wind Power Project by TEQ Green Power” meets the following criteria:

(a) The Project Activity is accurately described in the Project Submission Form (version 3.2, dated 18/03/2025). It appropriately applies the approved CDM methodology ACM0002, version 22.0 /2/, fulfils all methodology applicability conditions, demonstrates additionality, and is expected to achieve the projected real and additional GHG emission reductions. The project complies with the monitoring requirements, has conducted both local and global stakeholder consultations in accordance with guidelines, and has conservatively and correctly calculated the estimated emission reductions.

(b) The Project Activity is expected to result in GHG emission reductions totalling approximately 21,39,380 tCO₂e over the fixed 10-year crediting period, as specified in the PSF. These reductions are additional to those that would occur in the absence of the project. The project is in full compliance with all applicable GCC rules, and EPL therefore recommends the registration of the Project Activity under the GCC Program.

(c) The Project Activity is not expected to cause any net harm to the environment or society. It complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard and is therefore deemed eligible to meet the criteria for both the Environmental No-Net-Harm Label (E+) and the Social No-Net-Harm Label (S+).

(d) The Project Activity is likely to contribute to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), complies with the Project Sustainability Standard, version 3.1, and is expected to contribute to a total of three SDGs. As such, the project qualifies for the Silver SDG Certification Label (SDG+).

(e) The Project Activity meets all applicable requirements of the GCC Program

The Verification report describes a total of 29 findings, which include:

·       06 Clarification Requests (CLs);

·       08 Corrective Action Requests (CARs)

All findings have been resolved by the project owner. Accordingly, EPL recommends the registration of the Project Activity under the GCC Program.
