Project Brief

The proposed project activity consists in the implementation and operation of 24 new wind power generation facilities Pau d'Água, Vellozia, Cedro, Vaqueta, Jabuticaba, Abil, Tábua, Pau Santo, Manineiro, Angelim, Umbuzeiro, Facheio, Sabiu, Quina, Mulungu, Acácia, Taboquinha, Imburana Macho, Barbatimão, Amescla, Juazeiro, Jataí and São Salvador, located in the municipalities of Caetité, Urandi, Igaporã, in the state of Bahia, Brazil.

The project activity will employ a total of 155 horizontal-axis aerogenerators (models: Vestas ECO 100, ECO 110-T75-02, ECO 122 and ECO 110-T75-01), with total nominal capacity of 390.6 MW.

The project will deliver 1,702,667 MWh/year of renewable electricity to the National Interconnected System (Sistema Interligado Nacional – SIN, in Portuguese). In the baseline, electricity delivered to the grid by the project activity would have been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants and by the addition of new generation sources, as reflected in the combined margin (CM) calculations. Hence, the project activity will promote GHG emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation that would otherwise occur.
