Project Brief

The Hawa Energy Wind Farm Project is located in Jhimpir, near Nooriabad, District Thatta, Sindh, Pakistan. The project owner is Hawa Energy (Private) Limited. The project comprises the installation of 29 wind turbines General Electric (GE) Turbines of 1.715MW each. These provide a total installed capacity of 49.735MW (GE 1.715MW*29 WTGs) with a predicted power supply to the grid of 170.777GWh per annum, which replace power generation of those fossil fuel-fired power plants delivered to the national grid under the baseline scenario. The project has achieved full commercial operation since 15/03/2018. It’s estimated that the project is estimated to generate 85,946tCO2e emission reductions per year and the total emission reductions 859,460tCO2e in the fixed 10-yr crediting period.

VERIFICATION OUTCOME
Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, KBS Certification Services Pvt. Ltd., has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – ‘Hawa Energy Wind Farm Project’ has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form (version 3.4 dt. 13/05/2023) /35/ including the applicability of the approved methodology ACM0002 version 20.0. and meets the methodology applicability conditions, is additional and is expected to achieve the forecasted real and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reduction estimates correctly and conservatively; is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated annual average ACCs of up to 85,946 tCO2e and a total of 859,460 tCO2e ACCs over 10-year period. The generated ACCs will be utilized to offset GHG emissions as indicated in the PSF which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the project activity and complies with all applicable requirement of the GCC Program and ICAO’s requirements on CORSIA Emissions Unit Eligibility Criteria and CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units, as per Clarification No 1., v1.2 paragraph 21-23 /04/, and the ACCs expected to be issued during the crediting period is likely to be CORSIA eligible and can be used by International Airlines for offsetting their emissions during all phases of CORSIA, therefore requests GCC Steering Committee to append CORSIA Certification label (C+) to this project, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3 /03/, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the project activity; is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard /04/, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+); and is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs) /34/, comply with the Project Sustainability Standard, and contribute to achieving a total of 4 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the Gold SDG certification label (SDG+)
