Project Brief

The proposed project activity is the installation of 735 (3x245MW) MW solar photovoltaic power plant/unit with the purpose of generation of clean electricity and contributing to achieve the requirements of the Green Economy Strategy of the country by harnessing the renewable “Solar Energy”. The project is being implemented in Nokh of Pokran Tehsil of Jaisalmer District of Rajasthan in India by NTPC Limited.

Additional Information

NTPC Limited is the project owner. The annual average net electricity generation over the fixed crediting period of 10 Years from the project activity is estimated to be 1,997,335 MWh. By displacing this amount electricity from fossil-fuel based power plants, the project activity is expected to reduce 1,867,907 tCO2e GHG emissions annually and 18,679,075 tCO2 over the entire crediting period of 10 years.

Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, LGAI Technological Center S.A. (Applus+ Certification), has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – ‘735 MW Nokh Solar PV Project’ has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form version 6.1 dated 12/09/2025 including the applicability of the approved CDM methodology ACM0002 version 21.0. and meets the methodology applicability conditions, is additional and is expected to achieve the forecasted real, measurable and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reduction estimates correctly and conservatively; is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated 1,867,907 tCO2e annual average, as indicated in the PSF which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable GCC rules, including ISO 14064-2:2019 and ISO 14064-3:2019 and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity; is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+); and is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), comply with the Project Sustainability Standard Version 3.1 and contribute to achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the Silver SDG certification label (SDG+).
