Project Brief

The Purpose of this project activity is to generate electricity by harnessing the solar energy by using solar photovoltaic technology and there by feed the generated electricity to the Indian National Grid

Project activity involves installation of Solar photovoltaic power generation project in Banda district of Uttar Pradesh State of India. The Project activity has installed the Solar Photovoltaic based Panels to convert the available solar radiation into the DC power and there by installed the Inverters to convert the DC power to the AC Power.

The project is implemented by Azure Power Jupiter Private Limited. The project is commissioned on 01/06/2017 and is currently in operation. The project has been connected to the Indian National Grid through the locally available 220/33 kV at Banda substation

Additional Information

Project activity is expected to generate average electricity value of 33,084 MWh per year over the fixed crediting period of 10 years and reduces an annual average emission reductions equivalent to 30,940 tCO2 per year and 309,404 tCO2 over the 10-year crediting period.

Opinion

This verification opinion has been prepared by LGAI Technological Center S.A. based on a contractual agreement with the Project Owner, Azure Power India Private Limited (and Focal Point Mr. Sunil Hansu), for undertaking verification of the 20 MW Solar Power Project under the Global Carbon Council (GCC) Program.
The verification was conducted in accordance with the applicable requirements of:
• GCC Project Standard (PS) Version 4.0,
• Verification Standard (VS) Version 3.1,
• Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard Version 3.0,
• Project Sustainability Standard Version 3.1,
• Applicable GCC/CDM methodologies and tools, including ACM0002 Version 21.0,
• Other relevant GCC guidance, clarification documents, and forms.

The project activity involves the installation of a 20 MW solar photovoltaic power plant in Chahitara Village, Banda District, Uttar Pradesh, India. It supplies renewable electricity to the Indian grid, displacing fossil-fuel-based power. The baseline scenario corresponds to continued grid electricity generation primarily from fossil fuels. The project is expected to reduce GHG emissions by generating clean electricity and displacing grid emissions. Emission reductions are calculated using ACM0002, based on generated net electricity export to the grid and combined margin emission factor. The crediting period for the project activity is from 01/06/2017 to 31/05/2027 (10 years, fixed).

The verification confirms that the project activity has been implemented as described in the final verified PSF (version 10), complies with the applied methodology ACM0002 v21.0 and applicable GCC rules, and is expected to achieve forecasted real, measurable, and additional GHG emission reductions amounting to 30,940 tCO₂e/year annual average over the 10 year crediting period.

The GCC Project Verifier, LGAI Technological Center S.A., hereby certifies that:
(a) The verification has been carried out in accordance with the relevant GCC Rules and Requirements.
(b) The project activity has been implemented as described in the Project Submission Form (version 10, dated 29/05/2026), and all physical features (technology, equipment, monitoring system) are in place and operational.
(c) The monitoring plan is in accordance with the approved methodology ACM0002 (version 21.0) and has been correctly applied, and data management systems are capable of generating verifiable emission reduction estimates.
(d) The project activity complies with the applicable requirements of the GCC Program, and the emission reductions claimed are real, measurable, additional, and verifiable.

Certification Labels and Recommendations:
• Environmental Safeguards Label (E+): Recommended
• Social Safeguards Label (S+): Recommended
• SDG+ Certification Label: Based on the verified contribution to SDG 7, SDG 8, and SDG 13, and supporting evidence reviewed, the Silver SDG+ label is confirmed as applicable.
• CORSIA Certification Label (C+):
o In line with the latest ICAO Council decision, and as per GCC Clarification No.01 v1.3, the project’s capacity exceeds 15 MW.
o Therefore, the indicative CORSIA label (C+) can only be recommended for the monitoring period up to 31/12/2020 (pilot phase).
o No CORSIA recommendation is applicable for ACCs issued for crediting periods beyond 31/12/2020.
