Project Brief

The proposed project activity is the installation of 250 MW solar photovoltaic power plant/unit with the purpose of generation of clean electricity and contributing to achieve the requirements of the Green Economy Strategy of the country by harnessing the renewable “Solar Energy”. The project is being implemented in Shambu Ki Burj Village of Shri Kolayat Tehsil of Bikaner District of Rajasthan in India by NTPC Limited.

Additional Information

NTPC Limited is the project Implementer. The average annual net electricity generation from the project activity over the fixed crediting period of 10 Years is estimated to be 617,304 MWh. By displacing this amount electricity from fossil-fuel based power plants, the project activity is expected to reduce emission of an annual average of 577,302 tCO2e GHG emissions and total 5,773,025 tCO2 over the fixed crediting period of 10 years.

Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, LGAI Technological Center S.A. (Applus+), contracted by the “Infinite Environmental Solutions LPP ” an authorised Project Owner to undertake the GCC verification of the project activity, has conducted an independent verification of the GCC Project Activity titled “250 MW Sambhu Ki Burj-I Solar PV Project”, in accordance with the scope, rules, and requirements defined by the GCC Program, including the Verification Standard (VS) Version 3.1, Project Standard (PS) Version 4.0, Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard version 3.0, Project Sustainability Standard version 3.1, and other applicable GCC/CDM Decisions, Tools, Guidance, and Forms.

The verifier confirms that the Project Activity has been appropriately described in the Project Submission Form (PSF) Version 10.4  dated 16/12/2025 and the applied approved methodology ACM0002 (Version 21.0) is valid and applicable. The project meets all applicability conditions of the methodology, demonstrates additionality, and is expected to achieve forecasted real, measurable, and additional GHG emission reductions. The emission reductions have been estimated correctly and conservatively, and the monitoring plan is in compliance with the methodology. The project has also appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultations.

The Project Activity is likely to generate GHG emission reductions of 57,302 tCO₂e annual average over a fixed crediting period of 10 years (i.e., from 06/08/2022 to 05/08/2032), as indicated in the PSF. These reductions are additional to what would occur in the absence of the project. The project complies with all applicable GCC rules and requirements, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3, and is recommended for registration under the GCC Program.

The project is not likely to cause any net harm to the environment and/or society, and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard. It is therefore recommended for registration under the Environmental No-Net-Harm Label (E⁺) and the Social No-Net-Harm Label (S⁺).

The Project Activity contributes positively to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), complying with the Project Sustainability Standard, and is expected to contribute to at least three (3) SDGs. Accordingly, the project qualifies for the Silver SDG Certification Label (SDG⁺).
