Project Brief

NTPC Limited commissioned a solar project in 2016 with total capacity of 250 MW (5 x 50 MW) in 5 phases. In the total capacity, 250 MW (5 x 50 MW) was commissioned on (100 MW) 30/04/2016, (50MW) 30/05/2016, (50MW) 07/06/2016, (50MW) 10/08/2016. However, last phase  i.e. (1 x 50 MW) project commissioned on 10/08/2016 is already registered in Verra  and now NTPC Limited is registering the remaining 200 MW (4 x 50 MW) in GCC.

Additional Information

NTPC Limited is the project owner. The annual average net electricity generation from the project activity is estimated to be 300,121 MWh. By displacing this amount electricity from fossil-fuel based power plants, the project activity is expected to reduce 280,672 tCO2e GHG emissions annually and 2,806,727 tCO2e over the entire crediting period of 10 years. This annual average net electricity generation and annual average GHG emission reductions are with application of degradation factor of 0.70% from second year.

Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, LGAI Technological Center S.A. (Applus+ Certification), has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – ‘200 MW (4 x 50 MW) Solar PV Project in NP Kunta Taluk, Anantapur District (AP), India’ has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form version 5.5 dated 17/02/2025 including the applicability of the approved CDM methodology ACM0002 version 21.0. and meets the methodology applicability conditions, is additional and is expected to achieve the forecasted real and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reduction estimates correctly and conservatively; is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated 280,672 tCO2e annual average, as indicated in the PSF which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable GCC rules, including ISO 14064-2:2019 and ISO 14064-3:2019 and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity; is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+); and is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), comply with the Project Sustainability Standard and contribute to achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the Silver SDG certification label (SDG+).
