In 2019 in Novogrudok, within the framework of the project “Belarus: Support for green urban development in small and medium-sized cities of Belarus”, which was funded by the Global Environment Facility and implemented by UNDP in partnership with the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, inefficient street lighting systems was replacement with LED lamps with technology "smart light" that controlled by lighting control systems. These systems take light and time of day into account to turn lights on and off that result in addition energy saving. In addition, the number of injuries on the streets is reduced and overall safety is increased.
