Project Brief

The project activity involves the development of a wind power facility comprising an installed capacity of 465 MW, by the installation of 75 x 6.2MW SG6.2, at a site where no renewable power plant was operating prior to the implementation of the project activity (greenfield project).
The facility will be connected to the Brazilian grid through the Brazilian National Interconnected System (Sistema Eléctrico Nacional, SIN) and will displace electricity from the grid electricity distribution system generated by fossil fueled power plants. The electricity generated by the Project Activity thus replaces the equivalent amount of electricity generated by the operation of existing/ grid connected power plants and by addition of new generation sources into the grid. The Project Activity thus reduces the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in to the atmosphere associated with the equivalent amount of electricity generation from the existing grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid.

Additional Information

The annaul estimated emission reductions for the project activity are 587991 tCO2e.
