Project Brief

The purpose of project activity “Zhenfa 100MW Solar Power Project” is to generate and feed to the connected national electricity grid of Pakistan, GHG free electricity by the installation of 100MWp (81.25 MWe) solar PV project. The solar project is located in District Layyah, Punjab, Pakistan. The project is implemented by Atlas Solar Limited (formerly known as Zhenfa Pakistan New Energy Company Limited). The technology of the project involves installation of solar panels which convert solar energy into electricity. The power generated is then supplied to the connected grid through evacuation system that comprises of power transformers, transmission lines and other associated infrastructure.

The project boundary includes the project sites where the solar power plant has been installed, power evacuation infrastructure including the other power stations feeding to the connected electricity grid, energy metering points, switch yards and other civil constructs.

The project is a greenfield project (there was no project in the pre-project existing scenario) and in the baseline, the national electricity grid would continue to provide for the power requirement of the country. Hence, the baseline of the project activity is continued generation of electricity in the connected national grid in Pakistan. The electricity generation in Pakistan is highly carbon intensive.
