Project Brief |
The proposed project activity is a wind energy-based power project located in Bagalkot and Koppal districts of Karnataka state of India. The project activity has installed 3 x 2.1 MW State of Art Wind Energy Turbines (S111 DFIG) manufactured and supplied by SUZLON Energy Ltd., with aggregated installed capacity of 6.3 MW. The project activity is promoted by M. Hanumantha Rao with a view to align itself with sustainable development policies of India. The project activity has been undertaken to harness the available wind power potential to generateclean power in Karnataka. The project will generate approximately 15,450 MWh of electricity per annum, which will be sold to state electricity board of Karnataka state of India. The project activity will displace net generated electricity from Indian grid. The project activity will help in greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction by using renewable resources (wind energy) for generating power which otherwise would have been generated using grid mix power plants, which is dominated by fossil fuel based thermal power plants. The project activity is a green field project aimed at utilizing wind to produce power. The technological details have been provided in Section A.3. The spatial extent of project boundary is the Indian grid. |
