| Project Brief | The project activity is the installation of 300 MW solar photovoltaic power plant/unit with the purpose of generation of clean electricity and contributing to achieve the requirements of the Green Economy Strategy of the country by harnessing the renewable “Solar Energy”. NTPC Limited commissioned a solar project in 2022 with total capacity of 300 MW. In the total capacity, first part of 150 MW out of 300 MW was commissioned on 29/09/2022, 98.78 MW on 30/09/2024, 32.90 MW on 31/10/2024 and remaining 18.32 MW part is yet to be commissioned on 01/03/2025. |
|---|---|
| Additional Information | NTPC Limited is the project owner and the crediting period for the project activity “300 MW Sambhu Ki Burj-II PV Project” is of 10 years. The annual average net electricity generation from the project activity is estimated to be 647,988 MWh/year. By displacing this amount electricity from fossil-fuel based power plants, the project activity is expected to reduce 603,276 tCO2e GHG emissions annually and 6,032,760 tCO2 over the entire crediting period of 10 years. |

| Opinion | The GCC Project Verifier, LGAI Technological Center S.A., has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – ‘300 MW Sambhu Ki Burj-II PV Project’ has correctly described the Project Activity in the final PSF including the applicability of the approved methodology ACM0002 version 21.0. and meets the methodology applicability conditions. In our opinion, the project meets all relevant GCC project standard requirements for the GCC. The project will hence be recommended by LGAI Technological Center S.A. (Applus+ Certification) for registration with the GCC. By displacing fossil fuel-based electricity with electricity generated from a renewable source, the project results in reductions of CO2 emissions that are forecasted real, measurable and give long-term benefits to the mitigation of climate change. Emission reductions attributable to the project are hence additional to any that would occur in the absence of the project activity. Given that the project is implemented as designed, the project is likely to achieve the estimated amount of annual emission reductions of 603,276 tCO2e annual average. Also, the project activity complies with all applicable GCC rules, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3, therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity. The verification has been performed following the requirements of the latest version of GCC verification standard, Version 03.1, GCC Project Standard, version 03.1 and on the basis of the contractual agreement. In detail the conclusions can be summarized as follows: • The project does not result in negative social, environmental and/or economic impacts. • The project contribution to Environment, Social Development and Economic and technological development. • The project additionality is sufficiently justified in the latest version of GCC PSF. • Conservative assumptions were applied in the project description. The monitoring plan of SDG parameters is transparent and adequate. The project meets the local stakeholder consultation requirements. The conclusions of this report show, that the project, as it was described in the project documentation, is in line with all criteria applicable for the verification. This can be concluded by the GCC Verifier that is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+); and is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainability Development Goals (SDGs), comply with the Project Sustainability Standard and contribute to achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the ‘Silver’ SDG certification label (SDG+). |
