Project Brief

The proposed project activity is the installation of 22 MW floating solar photovoltaic power plant/unit with the purpose of generation of clean electricity and contributing to achieve the requirements of the Green Economy Strategy of the country by harnessing the renewable “Solar Energy”. NTPC Limited commissioned a floating solar project in 2022 with capacity of 22 MW, commissioned on 31/03/2022. The project is being implemented in Kayamkulam of Alappuzha District of Kerala in India by NTPC Limited.

Additional Information

The electricity generated from project activity is exported to the Indian grid in India there by displacing the consumption of electricity from the regional grid electricity distribution system. The electricity generated by the project activity thus replaces the equivalent amount of electricity generated by the operation of existing/ grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel based power plants) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid.
