Project Brief

The proposed project activity consists in the implementation and operation of a new wind power electricity generation project named Folha Larga Norte. It is divided into two bundle projects, Folha Larga Phase 1 and Folha Larga Phase 2.
The Folha Larga Phase 1 wind farm comprises the projects Ventos de São Januário 01 Wind Farm, Ventos de São Januário 04 Wind Farm and Ventos de São Januário 14 Wind Farm, totaling an installed capacity of 105 MW.
The Folha Larga Phase 2 wind farm is made up of the Ventos de São Januário 03 Wind Farm, the Ventos de São Januário 05 Wind Farm, the Ventos de São Januário 06 Wind Farm, Ventos de São Januário 10 Wind Farm and Ventos de São Januário 11 Wind Farm, totaling an installed capacity of 197,4 MW.
Both areas are in the rural zone of the municipality of Campo Formoso, northern region of the State of Bahia, 428 km away from the capital Salvador.

The project activity will deliver approximately 1,562,151 MWh/year of renewable electricity to the National Interconnected System (Sistema Interligado Nacional - SIN). In the baseline scenario, electricity delivered to the grid by the project activity would have been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants and by the addition of new generation sources, as reflected in the combined margin (CM) calculations. Hence, the project activity will promote GHG emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation that would otherwise occur.
