Project Brief

The project activity is a new grid-connected 126 MW wind power plant/unit at a site where no renewable power plant was operating prior to the implementation of the project activity (green-field plant). The project is implemented in Gujarat state of India by one Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) viz. Continuum Power Trading (TN) Private Limited .

The electricity generated from project activity is exported to the Indian grid in India through a PPA there by displacing the consumption of electricity from the regional grid electricity distribution system.

The electricity generated by the project activity thus replaces the equivalent amount of electricity generated by the operation of existing/ grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel based power plants) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid and hence leads to reduction of anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) in to the atmosphere associated with the equivalent amount of electricity generation from the existing grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid.

Additional Information

The estimated emission reductions achieved for the entire crediting period of 10 years are 3,635,360 tCO2e.

VERIFICATION OUTCOME
Opinion

The GCC Project Verifier, KBS Certification Services Ltd., has verified and certified that the GCC Project Activity – “Renewable Wind Power Project in Gujarat by CGEIPL 2” (GCC ref. no. S00593) has correctly described the Project Activity in the Project Submission Form (version 4.0 dated 06/11/2023 ) including the applicability of the approved methodology ACM0002, version 20.0. and meets the methodology applicability conditions, is additional and is expected to achieve the forecasted real and additional GHG emission reductions, complies with the monitoring methodology, has appropriately conducted local and global stakeholder consultation processes and has calculated emission reduction estimates correctly and conservatively; is likely to generate GHG emission reductions amounting to the estimated annual average ACCs of up to 328,832 tCO2e and a total of 3,288,320 tCO2e ACCs over 10-year period. The generated ACCs will be utilized to offset GHG emissions as indicated in the PSF which are additional to the reductions that are likely to occur in absence of the Project Activity and complies with all applicable requirement of the GCC Program and ICAO’s requirements on CORSIA Emissions Unit Eligibility Criteria and CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units, as per Clarification No 1.3, v1.2 paragraph 21-23, and the ACCs expected to be issued during the crediting period is likely to be CORSIA eligible and can be used by International Airlines for offsetting their emissions during all phases of CORSIA. The GCC Steering Committee shall append CORSIA Certification label (C+) to this project, including ISO 14064-2 and ISO 14064-3. In addition, it is a request to the GCC Program to register this Project Activity that is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and that complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard/6/, to obtain the following Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and Social No-net-harm Label (S+). This project also contributes to the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to meet the Project Sustainability Standard for achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is expected to achieve the Silver SDG certification label (SDG+)
