Project Brief

The Purpose of this bundled project activity is to generate the clean electricity from the installation of wind turbine generators and feed the generated electricity to the Indian national grid.

The proposed project activity involves installation of three wind power projects of capacities 12 MW – located in Madhya Pradesh and capacities of 30 MW and 18 MW both of which located in Gujarat , India.  The capacity of the single WTG is of 2 MW. All the three projects are commissioned and operational and the total project capacity has been connected to the national Grid through the MPPKVVCL substation in Madhya Pradesh for 12 MW project and GETCO substation Sadla in Gujarat for 18 MW and GETCO Amreli substation in Gujarat for 30 MW. Generated power from the project activity 1 is supplied to MP Power management company Limited (MPPKVVCL) and project activity 2 and project activity 3 are being supplied to Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (GUVNL), the government distribution companies in respective states.

Additional Information

The project will replace anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHG’s) estimated to be approximately 96,392 tCO2e per year, thereon displacing estimated value of 103,536 MWh/year amount of electricity from the generation-mix of power plants connected to the Indian grid, which is mainly dominated by thermal/fossil fuel based power plant. Over the total crediting period the project activity estimated to reduce 9,63,924 tCO2e GHG emission reductions

VERIFICATION OUTCOME
Opinion

4K Earth Science Private Limited has performed a verification of the Bundled Wind Power Project In Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. The verification is performed on the basis of GCC criteria project verification standard, Version 3.1/03/ for the project activity, GCC guideline and host country criteria, as well as criteria given to provide for consistent project operations, monitoring and reporting.

The review of the final version of GCC PSF/10/ and the subsequent Site visit and interviews with site personal has provided 4K Earth Science Private Limited with sufficient evidence to determine the fulfillment of stated criteria. In our opinion, the project meets all relevant GCC project standard/2/ requirements for the GCC. The project will hence be recommended by 4K Earth Science Private Limited for registration with the GCC.

By displacing fossil fuel-based electricity with electricity generated from a renewable source, the project results in reductions of CO2 emissions that are real, measurable and give long-term benefits to the mitigation of climate change. Emission reductions attributable to the project are hence additional to any that would occur in the absence of the project activity. Given that the project is implemented as designed, the project is likely to achieve the estimated amount of annual emission reductions of 96,392 tCO2e per year/11/.

The verification has been performed following the requirements of the latest version of GCC verification standard, Version 03.1/03/, GCC Project Standard, version 03.1/02/ and on the basis of the contractual agreement.

In detail the conclusions can be summarized as follows:

-            The project does not result in negative social, environmental and/or economic impacts.

-            The project contribution to Environment, Social Development and Economic and technological development.

-            Is not likely to cause any net-harm to the environment and/or society and complies with the Environmental and Social Safeguards Standard, and therefore requests the GCC Program to register the Project Activity, which is likely to achieve the requirements of the Environmental No-net-harm Label (E+) and the Social No-net-harm Label (S+);

-            Is likely to contribute to the achievement of United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), comply with the Project Sustainability Standard, and contribute to achieving a total of 3 SDGs, which is likely to achieve the silver SDG certification label (SDG+).

-            The project additionality is sufficiently justified in the GCC PSF/10/.

-            Conservative assumptions were applied in the project description.

-            The monitoring plan of SDG parameters is transparent and adequate.

-            The project meets the local stakeholder consultation/17/ requirements.

The conclusions of this report show, that the project, as it was described in the project documentation, is in line with all criteria applicable for the verification.
