The proposed project activity is a 50 MW solar power plant/unit at Tiruchirappalli district in state of TamilNadu in India, being developed by Avaada Clean TNProject Private Limited. The electricity generated by the project activity will replace the equivalent amount of electricity generated by the operation of existing/ grid connected power plants (mostly fossil fuel based power plants) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid. The project activity will thus reduce the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases (GHGs) into the atmosphere associated with the equivalent amount of electricity generation from the existing grid connected power plants (mostly based on fossil fuels) and by addition of new generation sources into the grid. The project activity will generate an annual average value of 101,318 MWh and thereby will result into reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs), which is estimated to be approximately 94,329 CO₂ /year.
