Project Brief

The proposed project activity consists in the implementation and operation of three new wind electricity generation facilities, Assuruá II, V and VII.

The physical implementation of the project activity started on April 5th, 2016, date on which the Electric Energy National Agency (Agência Nacional de Energia Elétrica – ANEEL) first allowed the wind facilities Assuruá II and Assuruá VII mentioned above to generate and insert energy into the Integrated National System (Sistema Interligado Nacional – SIN). The following table shows ANEEL issuance for all Assuruá 1 facilities:

The project activity will deliver 344,005 MWh/year of renewable electricity to the National Interconnected System (Sistema Interligado Nacional - SIN). In the baseline, electricity delivered to the grid by the project activity would have been generated by the operation of grid-connected power plants and by the addition of new generation sources, as reflected in the combined margin (CM) calculations. Hence, the project activity will promote GHG emissions reductions by displacing fossil fuel-based electricity generation that would otherwise occur.
